Full Time Officers:

Chief Robert Kirmelewicz  (e-mail)

Sgt. Kirmelewicz was promoted to the position of Acting Chief on May 16, 2008. He is the department's firearms/use of force instructor, and one of the motorcycle officers. He started his career at the Rowley P.D. in 1985, coming to Groveland in Feb. 1989. He was promoted to Sgt. on April 1, 2002 and assumed many administrative duties including scheduling, background investigations of new employees and the co-ordination of vehicle maintenence. He holds an Associates Degree in C.J. from Northern Essex Community College and a Bachelors in Human Services from Springfield College. He also holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College.

Dep. Chief Jeffrey Gillen  (e-mail)

Sgt. Gillen is the department's investigator, domestic violence officer, and FTO supervisor. After many years with the Georgetown P.D. he came to Groveland in April 1990. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Springfield College and holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College.

Lt. Harold Yeo  (e-mail)

Lt. Yeo is in charge of police personnel, scheduling and cruiser maintenance. He has worked for the G.P.D. since June 1976 and was promoted to Lieutenant in Oct. 1999. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Springfield College and a Masters Degree in C.J. Administration from Western New England College.

Off. Dwight McDonald  (e-mail)

Off. McDonald is the department's Juvenile/school liason officer, FTO (Field Training Officer), I.T. specialist and the LEAPS/CJIS rep. He is a member of the Community Collaborative Initiative (CCI) run by the Essex County District Attorney's office and sits on the Pentucket Community Wellness Commitee. He started his career with the Boxford P.D. in 1987, coming to Groveland in July 1989. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College.

Off. Kevin Woodman  (e-mail)

Off. Woodman is the department's physical training officer. He worked for the Essex County Sheriff's Dept. from 1986 until coming to Groveland in May 1992. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Springfield College and a Masters in C.J. from Western New England College.

Off. Eric Gorski  (e-mail)

Off. Gorski is one of the police department's motorcycle officers and the use of force/defensive tactics officer. He has worked as a court officer and at the Essex County Sheriff's Dept. He started working in Groveland April 1997. He holds an associates degree in C.J. from Hesser College and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College. He also holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College.

Off. James Morton  (e-mail)

Officer Morton has been with the department since December of 1996. He has an Associates Degree in CJ from North Shore Community College and is pursuing his Bachelors degree, and has attended the reserve police academy. He graduated from the Full Time Police Academy in 2003 and is currently assigned to the midnight shift.


Off. Aaron Yeo

Officer Yeo works as a patrol officer for the police department and is CJIS and E911 certified. He graduated in July 2006 from the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council Police Academy in Reading and is currently assigned to the midnight shift.


Off. Eric Ryan  (e-mail)

Off. Ryan was one of the Department's full time dispatchers and graduated from the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council Reading Police Academy in February 2008. He serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and is currently assigned to the midnight shift.





Reserve Officers:

Off. David Shanahan

Officer Shanahan has been with the department since October 1989. He has attended the reserve police academy and has been an EMT for 22 years. He owned/operated Shanahan's Ambulance until it was bought out in 1996. He is currently employed by the Georgetown Highway Department.

Off. Steven Sargent

Officer Sargent serves both as a dispatcher and a police officer. He is the Emergency Management Director for the Town of Groveland and a member of the Fire department.


Off. Lisa Touchette

Officer Touchette was appointed in June of 2002 and is currently pursuing an Associates Degree from Northern Essex Community College. She works full time for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Court Officer, assigned to the Lawrence District Court.


Off. Edwin Fournier  (e-mail)

Officer Fournier serves both as a dispatcher and patrol officer and was appointed in March of 2004. He also currently serves with the Marblehead Police Department and Gordon Conwell College Police. He served 25 years as an EMT and is currently certified as an instructor in firearms and motor vehicle stops.


Off. Danielle Connolly

Officer Connolly serves as both a dispatcher and a patrol officer. She was appointed in November of 2004 as a dispatcher and joined the patrol force in July of 2005. She is currently enrolled in a Bachelors program through UMASS Lowell, studying Criminal Justice.

Off. Daniel Ramirez

Off. Ramirez was appointed to the Groveland Police Department in March of 2007. He currently works full time for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Court Officer, assigned to the Lawrence District Court.


Off. Garrett Greer

Off. Greer was appointed to the Groveland Police Department in March of 2007. He currently works full time for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at DSS and previously at the Essex County DA's office. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Boston College and holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State College.

Communications:

The position of dispatcher in the communications department has many responsibilities. The dispatcher receives all communications from the public and other agencies. Once received, the dispatcher immediately informs the patrol officers of any emergencies or service calls, or refers the information to the appropriate person or agency. In addition to this function, a dispatcher is also required to know how to use all communication equipment, including computers, radios, the 911 system, office equipment and phone systems. This is a demanding job at times and requires a calm, patient and intelligent person.
